Radio tracks are usually included as bonuses, but to have 5 CDs of them seems excessive, if not exploitative, especially when you consider the CD set will cost around £30 and the 3 x LP double that. As much as I love classic Genesis this is all too much for me I’m afraid. This seems a good moment to mention ROB GOULD - NURSERY CRYME on the Fruits de Mer Records label. Rob and co worked their socks off to replicate this classic album: the best example if you want to check it out is their stunning version of ‘Return of the Giant Hogweed’. You may well ask - what is the point? But I would argue that at least Rob and co are paying tribute in a tremendously skilful and thoughtful project, while EMI are simply recycling sessions we used to listen to our little radios back in the day.
