I can’t believe that the first album of this fantastic project came out in 2010. Their second opus came in 2015, and it’s been a long wait for the third, but well worth it. Virtuosic Indian Classical sitarist and multi-instrumentalist K D Westman has never sounded more accomplished and inventive and also contributes mellotron, Fender Rhodes, synth, bass and guitar. Dr Space plays modular synths, mellotron and Hammond organ and Love is the drummer, cuica player. Hasse Horrigmoe (Tangle Edge) guests on bass and percussion.

There are five pieces in all, ‘One Step Ahead’ exhibiting extraordinary interplay between the synths and the sitar, and the others are not far behind, not behind at all in fact as the album flows and accumulates into quite a spiritual experience, culminating in the epic 15:40 closer ‘Explaining Relativity’, which is an extremely atmospheric piece conjuring up fleeting memories of Mike Oldfield and Tangerine Dream, but is unmistakeably the remarkable sound of West, Space and Love. Don’t miss it! (Available on preorder on Bandcamp – NB the limited red vinyl edition is nearly sold out there).
