The last record by the classic Hammill/ Jackson/ Banton/ Evans line-up until 2005’s “Present”, I don’t endorse the theory that somehow “World Record” doesn’t fully stand up against the other two components of a trilogy of albums within a prolific 12-month period, “Godbluff” and “Still Life”. What we hear is a remastered version of the original album with the single B-side ‘Meurglys III: The Songwriter’s Guild’ (stripped down to around a third of this playful 20-minute epic), new stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes and a blu-ray disc that includes the promotional film for the anthemic song ‘Wondering’. The other tracks are the strident ‘When She Comes’, ‘A Place to Survive’ and ‘Masks’. ‘Nuff said except to wonder why this couldn’t wait until next year?
