THE GREAT ROCK BIBLE – SYD BARRETT

Opening a very early page in Martin C Strong’s ultimate music discography (1920- 1976), I came across SYD BARRETT. Being in a psychedelic mood after reviewing ANTON BARBEAU’S “In the Village of the Apple Sun”, I thought to myself: it’s ages since I have listened to any of Syd’s solo stuff. Fascinating facts about Syd, most of which I had forgotten, were revealed. Martin recommended some songs to start and I was away, delving once again into THE MADCAP LAUGHS (1970) and BARRETT (also strangely enough also 1970) and getting reacquainted with some unique and oddly enticing psychedelic gems. It was some trip (without any drugs I hasten to add). This is the kind of effect THE GREAT ROCK BIBLE can have on you. And did I mention before it is selling at the special price of £50 (hardback) through RED PLANET BOOKS (Contacts on DISS) with a limited print run.
