SULA BASSANA - DREAMER (2002/ 2014) (Sulatron Records)

Updated: May 21

It is incredible to think that this was the debut of Dave Schmidt AKA Sula Bassana on an LP on the Nasoni label. “Dreamer” is now reissued, with remastering by Eroc. The title track sounds very panoramic, swishing psychedelic organ transmitting a vintage 60s vibe. ‘Dealer McDope’ is based on a classic guitar rock riff (think NICK SALOMAN) with swooshing synth and dollops of space rock. ’My Blue Guitar’ is a real visceral trip. ‘Nerveniähmung’ is a very atmospheric and sci-fi orientated, while ‘Ananda’ is a long atmospheric piece, conjuring up an electronic jungle with blazing guitar and drums increasing the intensity of the piece as it reaches its conclusion. The final piece ‘Baby Blue Shuffle in D- major’ gets into a trance-like early PINK FLOYD stylised groove.

Better still, it is released on LP! Act fast though as it will sell out (check Bandcamp for availability and formats). The record will also be distributed through Broken Silence and Clear Spot NL.
