NORTHERN FAITH – LIVING ST AIDAN’S DREAM (Northern Soundscapes) (2025)

Tim Hunter has informed me of a new single on his Northern Soundscapes Bandcamp page. This is a new 2 track single about St Hilda and St Aidan, two Northern Saints, both with distinctive styles of ministry, who played a big role in establishing Christianity on the British Isles in the first century. ‘Living St Aidan’s Dream’ is a thoughtful, piano led song with gospel choruses and tidy guitar and organ breaks. ‘’St Hilda of Whitby’ sounds again like a potted biography explaining the significance of this revered local figure. Tim is exploring here a melodic progressive form of Christian music, an underemployed mode associated many years ago by bands like Iona, and says that these two songs will be included in enhanced versions of his Northern Faith live shows.
