MARILLION – AN HOUR BEFORE IT’S DARK – LIVE IN PORT ZELANDE (Racket Records) (2024)

Benedict Jackson

Available in 2 x CD and Blu Ray with extra tracks, this release is a recording of the Saturday night (17th March, 2023) of the 21st Marillion weekend (the Friday and Sunday nights are to be released later in the year). It includes a live performance of the album along with other old favourites like ‘Estonia’, ‘Afraid of Sunlight’ and ‘Zeparated Out’ (the one that includes a snippet of LED ZEPPELIN’s ‘Kashmir’). There is also a 16-page booklet with the CD set.

I don’t think I’ve seen any band more often than Marillion (in both manifestations), and the question is do we really need to hear another live Marillion album? Well, as someone who has never managed to attend a Marillion weekend, the answer, for me at least has got to be, “Yes!” Whether the constant release of expensive CDs and albums is practicably affordable is another question entirely. There are other options of course!
