MAJA, GILAD AND NIXOS – A DARK MOVIE SCENE (Aesthetiko) (RSD limited white vinyl) (2005)

Maja Babyszka, British woodwind virtuoso Gilad Atzmon and Greek drummer Nikos Sidirokastritis have joined forces to create what the press release describes as “a rare magical mixture of beauty, innovation and revolutionary spirit.”; this is one of the first releases of Aesthetiko, a new label. The plaintive brass and rippling piano do indeed create a unique aesthetic, and this short single serves as a satisfying introduction to a label that I look forward to hearing more of.
