I have decided to put the spotlight on some Prog distributors and labels this week and LION MUSIC has developed an incredible concept- large bundles of CDs for not much more than one euro each plus postage, and similar deals for LPs (not one euro, although one deal offers 6 LPs for 88 euros!). As these include albums that normally retail for between 21.90 euros and 23.90 euros, this is a real bargain.

The thing I really like is that many releases seem to be limited to 100 copies and that the music is ‘curated’, so that there are a series of collections costing just 69 euros for 25 CDs under the following headings: Prog Metal, Shred (Guitar Virtuoso), Female Voice. There is also a LARS ERIC MATTSON signed collection of 12 CDs. I believe Lars is the label boss and his “Aurora Borealis – Concerto for Group and Orchestra, his tribute to URIAH HEEP and his latest album “Evolution” all sound intriguing.

To be honest, the only Lion release I have reviewed thus far was DARREL TREECE-BIRCH’s impressive “Atlantea”, so in the following days and months I plan to check out more of the label’s releases – watch this space!
