JON ANDERSON & THE BAND GEEKS- LIVE – PERPETUAL CHANGE (Frontier) (2025)

Benedict Jackson

Jon Anderson has assembled what is essentially a tribute band for a live album named after one of Yes’s songs. Indeed, most of the music is drawn from 1973’s live triple album “Yessongs” plus ‘Awaken’ and ‘The Gates of Delerium’ so the setlist is absolutely sound. Setting aside the question of what is the point in replicating something that has already achieved such greatness, prog heads will want to hear this simply to judge for themselves the current condition of Jon’s vocal chords (No worries there) and how much they divulge from the original version (Barely at all) Personally, I can’t get past having witnessed the ‘real thing’ live back in the day but endorse the keeping of flame approach and the introduction of this timeless music to new audiences.
