With a new album on the horizon, the mighty Tull has released a stunning 6-minute long single. Poignant piano and strummed acoustic introduce it, the flute makes an early entry; chugging guitar chords and organ, steady drums; concerning the passing of the years, rumination, what else? Philosophical and thought-provoking lyrics during sleepless nights (“Dissenting voices from steeple spires” and a short chorus of “Asking why am I here? Answering: why am I anywhere”; “psycho dreaming asteroid”), fluid guitar followed by a more incisive axe attack with wistful flute; brilliant.
