FRANK ZAPPA – ZAPPA MUNICH ’80/ ZAPPA ’80 MUDD CLUB and MUNICH/ FUNKY NOTHINGNESS (2023)

A 3 LP Zappa official release is out, praised by Discogs buyers as revealing Zappa on top form on the complete last show of his 1980 Spring and Summer tour. ‘Chunga’s Revenge’, ‘You Are What You Is’, ‘Joe’s Garage’, nothing much from the early days, but showing where Zappa was at musically in that year. This follows a 3 CD set with the Munich concert plus one from New York.

Also so far in 2023 there has been a ‘lost album’ entitled “Funky Nothingness” produced by Frank himself including sessions from “Hot Rats”, with some crack musicians from that era: Don ‘Sugarcane’ Harris, Ian Underwood and a rhythm section of Max Bennett and Aynsley Dunbar: this is also an official 3 CD set.
