This is a very different kind of release to “Eternal Flashback” – the rock is back into space! Santtu Laakso reverts to handling the guitar duties himself (along with bass synth and ‘beats’) with Markku Helin supplying the lead guitar on ‘Stuck in the Mud’ and ‘Sea of Infinite Possibilities’. Regular Astral Traveller Jonathan Segel adds a third guitar to his distinctive violin, which is heard to good effect on ‘Sea of Infinite Possibilities’. “Those who Came from the Stars” is a musical science fiction story no less. ‘It’s All in Your Mind’ has a psychedelic feel -is it about the grand design? A touch of the Erich von Danikens perhaps in the concept? ‘F Equals 1 over T’ is a tale of an alien sighting being challenged by a sceptic and claiming he has the formula for a time machine where F= Frequency and T= Time, fascinating stuff! ‘The First Light’ is an absorbing instrumental that features some nice retro organ and an interchange between guitars. I waited for the title track to reveal some more secrets about this enigmatic album – it’s about a dying planet (ours?) being saved by astral visitors with an urgency expressed in the explorative guitar breaks. The music is densely layered and evocative, as Astral Magic fans have come to expect, and comes in download form or a 100 limited CD with an artistic digipak and a bonus track.
