The prolific Santtu Laakso is back again contributing as a guest synth player to a continuous 38-minute piece by poetic narrator Shane Beck, and Vince Cory of Sonic Trip Project on guitars and theremin, who have adopted the name Eternal Flashback. Needless to say, it’s very otherworldly and slightly hallucinogenic. The guitars have a kind of spaced-out Steve Hillage kind of feel, what he might have done had he continued with the spacy rock of “Fish Rising” rather than entering the realm of trance music. It is also very experimental, on the avant-garde edge of space rock, only really getting into a groove around 20 minutes in, which pretty much flatlines; that doesn’t matter though because “Eternal Flashback” is a finely engineered atmospheric asteroid of space music and a far out headphone listening experience. It's on the ASTRAL MAGIC Bandcamp page.
