A YEAR OF ALICE COLTRANE: THE CARNEGIE HALL CONCERT (1971/ 2024) (Impulse!) (2 LP, 2 CD, DL)

Great news for ALICE COLTRANE fans, with the release of “Alice Coltrane: The Carnegie Hall Concert” on Impulse!

Alice Coltrane had just released her seminal album “Journey in Satchidananda”, and after a five-week trip to India, added two new members: Kumar Kramer on harmonium and Tulsi Reynolds on tamboura for the Carnegie Hall Concert to a stellar line-up that also included PHAROAH SANDERS and ARCHIE SHEPP on saxes; JIMMY GARRISON and CECIL Mc BEE on bass, and two drummers in ED BLACKWELL and CLIFFORD JARVIS.

Other releases will follow throughout the year and there has also been a launch celebratory event at Birdland with RAVI COLTRANE and MICHELLE COLTRANE participating. Disc one of “The Carnegie Hall Concert” has ‘Journey into Satchidananda’ and ‘Shiva- Loka’ while disc two has two JOHN COLTRANE pieces, ‘Africa’ and ‘Leo’.
